NOTE

The Demise of Ether in Physics

Historically, the concept of ether in physics had a spiritual or religious connotation attached to it. In the late 1800s, the Mickelson Morley experiment was conducted to measure ether drift, but it concluded that there was no ether effect. This experiment marked the death of the ether concept in physics, even though later repetitions of the experiment hinted at the possibility of its existence. Subsequently, Einstein further reinforced the idea that there was no ether in the physical world.
