Hiring Based on Talent and Trust
In our company, we have open interviews for exceptionally talented individuals, even without a specific position for them. We recently encountered someone with great experience and fit and recommended them to one portfolio company. Initially hesitant, we convinced them to hire the talented person. We believe in taking risks and learning from mistakes, as it's necessary for entrepreneurs to improve pattern recognition. The level of talent should create FOMO (fear of missing out). Additionally, if you're not learning anything from the candidate during the interview, it indicates that you know more than them and they'll be dependent on you for success, lacking leverage.
