Hierarchy of Generative Model in the Brain
The brain operates as a generative model where data does not flow up to the brain; instead, prediction errors flow upwards in the hierarchy of models. The brain generates what it thinks it is seeing based on the prediction errors that flow up, prompting adjustments. There are multiple layers in this hierarchy, with each layer providing priors to the layer above, including concepts, multi-sensor integration, reasoning, and language at the top levels.
