i would also question whether we have collectively improved our ethics at all. In the middle ages, there could have been none to improve people's lot in life. The gap between the way the world was and how it could be is far wider now. And therefore, i think we are ethically a more at fault in allowing this gap to get wider than it was in mediaeval times. That's why i dispute the idea that we are ethical in advance of our predecessors. I agree with those facts.
