In basketball, certain players can be valuable assets, but their impact depends on the team dynamics. As a leader, it's essential to understand what your team can handle. There are two types of organizations: those that stick to their established ways and those that embrace learning and change. Embracing chaos can lead to innovation and relevancy. On championship teams, coaches have successfully gotten players to embrace chaos. In contrast, when I joined the Memphis Grizzlies, a historically unsuccessful team, there was no trust or culture of excellence. Transitioning to embrace chaos can be challenging, but it's possible.
