Metaphysics emerges from a method of work that involves observing natural objects and processes in isolation, without their connection to the broader whole. This way of analyzing nature, when applied to philosophy by Bacon and Locke in the 18th century, led to a metaphysical mode of thought. The scientific concepts used to analyze nature can turn into dogmatic metaphysics, freezing the universe and portraying nature as dead and stagnant, which ultimately leads to consumption and destruction.
