These people were known for their burial mounds called kurgans and were skilled in metalworking and horse breeding. Around 5,000 years ago, they started spreading across Europe and Iran, contributing to the formation of the Indo-European language family. Despite being nomadic pastoralists, their extensive movement played a crucial role in the widespread distribution of the Indo-European language without a single prominent leader guiding the expansion.
