NOTE

Metabilize Food to Make Energy

Metabolizing food to make energy involves a process whereby the food is broken down to produce ATP, the energy currency of the body. However, the body spends a little ATP to make more during this process. Glucose metabolism involves a feedback mechanism to prevent significant ATP depletion. In contrast, fructose metabolism can lead to unregulated ATP consumption, causing a significant drop in ATP levels and signaling the body to conserve energy by shunting it into fat and glycogen storage. This process triggers hunger, leading to increased food intake, primarily to restore energy but often resulting in excess fat storage. Animals use fructose as a mechanism to store fat, manipulating weight regulation patterns. For instance, hibernating animals and migrating birds consume fruits rich in fructose to gain weight and increase fat reserves, driven by ATP depletion.
