NOTE

The Importance of Considering the Other Person's Perspective in Rejection

In 1983, a young man rejected me, but we later became friends. His name is Robert Edelstein, and we've been friends ever since. This taught me that rejection doesn't mean someone doesn't like you. In fact, he asked me for examples of my writing, and I rejected myself out of embarrassment. I've learned that many people who initially pose a reasonable obstacle or roadblock can become lifelong friends. It's important to consider the perspective of the person doing the rejecting and approach it with empathy.
