NOTE

Rest Requires Calm, Not Psychological Strain

Rest must involve low physical activity or no activity at all. Activities like leisurely walks, casual bike rides, board games, or watching TV can be restful if they don't tire you out. Engaging in mentally stimulating tasks like answering emails or browsing social media does not count as true rest; instead, it can lead to cognitive strain and fatigue. For effective relaxation, focus on activities that allow for mental and physical comfort while minimizing engagement and demands. When assessing whether an activity is relaxing, consider if it allows for boredom without exhaustion. Ideal relaxation should leave you wanting to be active again rather than feeling cabin fever after an extended period. It's crucial that both the physical and mental aspects of relaxation are low-energy, avoiding anything that requires intensive thought. Not all forms of reading or viewing content are equally restorative; more intellectually demanding material can hinder relaxation. Recognizing the difference between engaging and draining activities helps in choosing truly relaxing pastimes.
