Dematerialization and the Risks of Cheap Energy

Economic growth leads to dematerialization, allowing us to do more with fewer resources, giving optimism that the earth's material pressure won't cause an irreversible collapse. However, the main concern is the potential for cheap energy to make it easy for someone to build and set off a nuclear weapon, leading to a collapse of global order. The fear is that as energy becomes cheaper, the risk of nuclear weapon proliferation increases. There's also a concern about the dangers of open sourcing AI, as once certain technologies are developed, they cannot be kept under wraps. The choice then becomes whether to deal with these issues through Chinese AI or American AI, with a clear preference for the latter.
