The roots of Nazism can be traced back to the 1880s and 1890s, characterized by social Darwinism, racial hygiene obsession, national degeneracy, war, struggle, and antisemitism in Germany. These ideas were further intensified by the shattering experience of World War I, the German Revolution of 1918-1919, economic hardships, and fears of Bolshevism. The German Workers' Party, which later became the National Socialist Party, attracted Adolf Hitler, who was able to articulate the rage and resentment of former servicemen, particularly focusing on antisemitism, which he had learned in Vienna before World War I.
