Beware of Temporary Victories

The law FISA, allowing federal agencies to spy on American citizens, was up for reauthorization in the House of Representatives. Mike Johnson of Louisiana, the new Speaker of the House, tried to get the law reauthorized to spy on dissenters, but the effort was halted temporarily due to the opposition from constituents or Congress members. This victory is temporary as the threat of unauthorized spying on citizens may resurface in the future.
