The concept of morphic resonance suggests that there is a collective memory in nature, where each species draws from and contributes to. This theory proposes that our normal memories are not stored in our brains but resonate with our past selves based on similarity. The term 'morphic' refers to form or shape, and 'resonance' pertains to similar patterns of vibration or activity. This hypothesis, put forward in 1981, makes testable predictions, some of which have already been tested, such as the learning of new tricks by rats in different locations.
We're excited to host Rupert Sheldrake in this episode, a biologist and author best known for his hypothesis of morphic resonance. Besides getting into the details of this hypothesis, we also talk about paradigm shifts in science, psy phenomena, experiments in consciousness, and about his new book called Ways to Go Beyond And Why They Work, where he describes some of the most well known spiritual practices for altering consciousness.
