The key personal finance asset is to not feel the need to gain admiration by showing off material possessions. Instead, cultivating respect and admiration through wisdom, intelligence, humor, love, and empathy can lead to genuine admiration. Seeking validation from others through material possessions is a result of insecurity. True admiration comes from intrinsic qualities rather than external displays. People are generally focused on themselves and not overly concerned with others. Therefore, prioritizing the admiration of a few important individuals rather than seeking validation from everyone can provide immense relief.
