The key insight here is that joy, happiness, and suffering come from within, and one can modify their internal responses to external events through cognitive reframing. This means that one can create a differential response to external events, with the ability to modify it up to 99 or even 100 percent. Clinically, it is known that cognitive reframing is a successful coping mechanism, leading to objectively and subjectively better outcomes for individuals, as compared to emotion-focused coping.
