Cool environments lower core body temperature, facilitating better sleep upon transitioning from warm baths or showers. Smart mattresses enhance this effect by maintaining an ideal thermal signature. The warm liquid of a hot drink can also aid in waking up by initially raising core and brain temperatures, providing an immediate benefit before caffeine fully activates. However, there is a delicate balance; both excessively cold and excessively hot conditions can disrupt sleep quality. To optimize sleep and REM cycles, one must finely tune their sleeping and waking temperature conditions.
