Confronting our shadow helps heal a divided world by ceasing to project our issues onto others. When we face our shadow, we become conscious of our own problems and conflicts, making us a serious problem to ourselves. Many people fail to realize that they are a character split in two and that by not confronting their shadow, they contribute to the hostility and divisiveness of the modern world. Those who confront their shadow recognize that the problems in the world are also within themselves. By dealing with their own shadow, they make a real difference in the world and shoulder a part of the unsolved social problems of our day. Failure to confront one's own shadow leads to a lack of self-awareness and perpetuates darkness in all our interactions.
