Inequality and the Nature of Human Flourishing
Inequality is inevitable and even if material inequality is equalized, other forms of inequality will emerge. The focus should be on how to have inequality in ways that are not demeaning or dehumanizing. The book draws on arguments from Aristotle and Aquinas, who emphasize the importance of economic material goods for human flourishing. A good political order should provide for basic needs, even if the market mechanism falls short. There are also additional ways to think about flourishing that the left may overlook.
