Foundation of the Church

The apostles, particularly Peter, are like the founding fathers of the church. Peter is described as the rock on which Jesus would build his church. The term 'church' originates from the Greek word 'ecclesia,' which is a translation of the Hebrew term used in the Old Testament to refer to the assembly of the Lord. Jesus signifies that his followers, termed the church, are a new Israel and temple, rooted in allegiance to him rather than ethnicity.
