The boxer rebellion came into China, and they started rounding up and executing Christians. Mark Zhang begged the torturers to kill him last so that none of his family would have to die without him being by their side. He was beheaded as he was singing the litany of the blessed Virgin Mary. And now he's a canonized saint who died addicted to opium.
