NOTE

Business Person as Agent for Multiple Principals

The business person is traditionally seen as an agent for the principal investor, representing the capital. However, there is another perspective where the business person could act as an agent for other stakeholders such as the planet Earth or the community. Stakeholder capitalism emphasizes that various actors contribute to a business's value creation, and the business's purpose should extend beyond just making money to providing a positive contribution to communities and the planet. While making money is necessary, it is not the ultimate goal of a business. Conscious capitalism highlights that the purpose of a business should be broader, leading to a shift from viewing the business person solely as an agent of the investor to recognizing multiple stakeholders in the business's ecosystem.
