Mithridates and the Spartans
Mithridates now firmly controls practically all of Asia Minor and most of the Black Sea coast. He commands massive armies and huge fleets, he's making a strong play for Greece itself. Athens is currently controlled by a pro-Mithridate dictator named Aristion. This Aristion made friends with Mithridates, visited his court. The Achaeans and the Spartans in the south are allied with him. And now he has a formidable garrison in the Paraeus.
