I think the self is turning liquid as well. We see that with, as you mentioned, the transgender revolution most graphically. I always think about Madonna in some ways as the great harbinger of our present age. She seemed to have a new image or persona every six to 12 months and marketed herself very effectively. The fashion industry is predicated on us reinventing ourselves with great frequency.
