Amor Fati and Philosophical Consolation
Embracing Nietzsche's idea of amor fati involves accepting both the good and bad events in life as interconnected. Altering any part of the chain of events can have unpredictable consequences. While there is affirmation in accepting all experiences, it doesn't necessarily redeem mistakes or terrible events. This acceptance can lead to ambivalence, which is preferable to unmitigated regret but falls short of complete embrace of life. The speaker's midlife crisis was likely triggered by their philosophical education, although it also provided the tools to navigate through it.
