NOTE

Misconceptions about MTHFR gene and folate metabolism

People often talk about having the MTHFR gene, but it's actually common to have it. The gene has different variants spread out in the population, creating a gradient of MTHFR activity. If someone has limited ability to use folate, they end up using more choline instead. Studies have shown that those with the worst MTHFR function require higher levels of choline. The worst case for MTHFR is the C677T homozygous variant.
