Proper Technique for Administering an I am Shot
When administering a shot to a patient, it's important to avoid restraining them forcefully. Instead, wait for them to calm down after the shot. It's also important to have proper safety measures in place, such as using an oxygen mask and injecting the patient with the necessary amount of medication. Contrary to some nursing protocols, you can administer up to 20 cc's of medication intramuscularly. This can be done through the clothing, without the need for removal. Trust the literature that supports these practices for a successful and efficient procedure.
