The argument against Technology as Panacea

The amount of time spent on social media is correlated with depression and other issues in the younger generation. While technology can be a good productivity device, relying on it as a universal solution may compound the systemic issues young people face. Betting on these issues improving due to technology may be misguided. A different path, such as non-automated work, may lead to different problems, potentially more existential in nature. Finding purpose through connection and human optimization over billions of years may be a better approach.
