Monopolization and Control of Cartridges
During the early days of gaming, companies monopolized cartridge manufacturing and implemented strict content control, prohibiting excessive violence. This control restricted the creativity of game developers and shaped the content of games we enjoy today. Cartridges were essentially circuit boards with games burned into read-only memory, limiting third-party developers to a set amount of memory for their games.
