Understanding Behavior through Confabulation
Observing one's behavior can provide data for creating explanations. Depriving aspects of behavior can lead to confabulations. Perception is likened to a constrained hallucination where what is simulated is matched to reality. It is proposed that much of our understanding of our actions is also a constrained confabulation.
