Traditional high-pressure interviews with white male interviewers may not accurately assess a candidate's job performance. Conducting written interviews can be a more effective way to evaluate candidates for certain roles. To increase diversity in engineering, engaging with historically black universities through hackathons and creating opportunities in environments where diverse candidates are comfortable can attract the right talent. It is crucial to change the recruitment pipeline to attract a more diverse range of candidates before expecting diversity in the workplace.
