Reliability of Intuition in Chess and Other Professions
Intuition plays a crucial role in chess as it allows players to make moves based on a flow of raw intuition without extensive calculation. The stability of the game makes intuition reliable, as the patterns from past games can be relied upon to predict future moves. This is similar to professions like firefighting, where limited patterns can be recognized and relied upon for decision-making. However, in professions like stockbroking, the constantly changing market makes intuition less reliable. In chess and other stable environments, the subconscious mind is adept at recognizing and utilizing these patterns more efficiently than conscious reflection.
