Court ruling in Montana on climate change and its implications

In a landmark case, a district court judge ruled in favor of plaintiffs, stating that it's unconstitutional for the legislature to bar the state from considering climate change. Although the ruling doesn't compel the state to take emissions into account, it has been hailed as a game changer. It was the second time climate scientists were subject to cross-examination under oath, and the first time a court recognized a constitutional right to a clean environment in the US. While some experts see this as significant, others are more skeptical about its implications and suggest focusing on mandating renewables instead.
