#378 – Anna Frebel: Origin and Evolution of the Universe, Galaxies, and Stars

Lex Fridman Podcast

NOTE

What is a galaxy and a proto galaxy?

A galaxy is a huge assembly of stars, with the Milky Way containing up to 400 billion stars. When we look at the night sky, we see the inner spiral arm of the Milky Way. However, if you travel to the southern hemisphere, you'll see a different view of the Milky Way, as you'll be looking at the next inner spiral arm. This difference in perspective creates a unique and beautiful sight.
