The Unintended Consequences of Roe v. Wade
Utah, a largely conservative state with a history of banning abortion, is now using language from their constitution that protects the right to determine the shape of their own family, written to defend polygamy, to defend abortion. Abortion rights groups argued that the state constitution protects the right to have an abortion, and they had success with that argument in court. This case has the likelihood of success and has put a temporary block on the trigger law banning abortion in Utah.
