The 10-year study of 5,000 adults revealed that there was no significant difference in weight gain between those who exercised and those who didn't. Contrary to popular belief, simply adding muscle mass is not the reason for a lack of weight loss. While it is possible to gain significant muscle weight through intense weightlifting and protein consumption, casual workouts do not result in substantial muscle gain.
