A study on exotic dancers found that during peak fertility, they earned more money, while menstruating or on birth control resulted in lower earnings. These changes in fertility were conveyed through body odor, skin, and waist-to-hip ratio. The brain can detect subtle differences in attractiveness, even on a centimeter level. What may be appealing to one person may not be to another, highlighting the subjective nature of attraction.
