Every job, team, and industry requires a combination of all six types of working genius: Wonder, Invention, Discernment, Galvanizing, Enablement, and Tenacity. Even in a factory setting, where execution is the primary focus, having individuals who can contribute to the ideation phase and question current processes is crucial. Without this, companies risk being outpaced by competitors who invest in innovation. Conversely, in a think tank, the emphasis is less on execution and more on thinking and idea generation. However, regardless of the industry or job, all six types of working genius are necessary to achieve success. Implementation may be the most visible and time-consuming type of work, but Wonder, Invention, Discernment, Galvanizing, Enablement, and Tenacity are all indispensable in accomplishing tasks and goals.
We've always thought of work as ideation and implementation, but the Working Genius model sheds light on an important middle phase that is often overlooked. This week, the Working Genius team talks about the three phases, and the elevation of each Genius as it relates to landing a plane.
