How the Gut Microbiome Influences Everything from Cancer Treatment to Inflammation
The Dr. Hyman Show
Impact of Glyphosate on Health
Glyphosate, the active compound herbicide in Roundup, has been linked to the destruction of barriers such as gut lining, blood-brain barrier, and kidney cells, leading to a leaky gut and chronic inflammation. The introduction of glyphosate in 1976, direct wheat spraying in 1992, and GMO crops in 1996 coincided with an increase in chronic and autoimmune diseases, inflammatory conditions, and neurologic degenerative conditions. This is due to the breakdown of tight junction proteins, leading to the phenomena of leaky gut, leaky brain, and other health issues like bloating, poor digestion, fatigue, cravings, brain fog, and memory loss. By restoring the communication network and tight junction proteins, cells were able to reconnect, showing a positive impact on health.
