The Abilene Paradox
The Abilene paradox is when a group makes a decision contrary to their individual desires because they assume others agree. It's like thinking the Emperor has clothes when he doesn't. One example is attending a wedding you don't want to go to because you think the invitee wants you there. Another example is at a business meeting where everyone agrees to an idea they dislike because they assume others will like it. It's similar to North Korea where nobody actually likes the idea.
