NOTE

The Importance of Focused Attention in Learning

Focused, dedicated attention to the thing you're trying to learn triggers chemical and electrical processes in the brain. This triggers the release of specific chemicals, like nor epinephrine and epinephrine, which create agitation and frustration. This discomfort and heightened level of alertness and attention signal to the neurons that something needs to change. Without this neurochemical change, there is no reason for the brain and body to adapt and learn. Therefore, focused, dedicated attention is crucial in the learning process.
