The Narcissistic Tendency in Postmodern Society
In a world where traditional bonds and common pursuits are disappearing, individuals in postmodern society lack external sources to build their identities upon. Consequently, they turn inward, focusing on themselves and leading to a rise in narcissism. Without traditions or universals to guide them, people in this postmodernist subjectivity are left to focus on their careers, productivity, and self-improvement to increase their market value. This constant need for achievement and productivity has led individuals to view everything in their lives, including other people, as resources for their own narcissistic projects, perpetuating a cycle of self-centered identity creation.
