Apple ProRes Cameras
Apple chose the ProRes 422 HQ codec for their massive files, making them difficult to store and work with. Other cameras use H.265 files, which are easier to handle but require post-processing for optimal results. The iPhone records smaller 4K files that would result in banding and artifacts if stretched for more color. This feature is currently not mainstream-ready due to storage constraints and incomplete workflows, but developers are working on solutions for the future.
