Hulk is a cowardly, entitled, and vain character who rose through the ranks without merit. His position as a captain is undeserved and he seeks glory and power. The lack of Republican guardrails in American democracy allows individuals with natural talent to rise, while in Rome's Republic, one's social status determines their opportunities. The military is often criticized for promoting undeserving individuals to higher positions. Hulk, who should truly rule, is unable to become an officer because he is not from a privileged background.
