Innovation in Western Societies Is Slower Because They Aren‘t Mobile-First

The hindrance to innovation in the West is that they are not a mobile-first society. Large transactions are still done on computers, leading to a lack of trust in mobile devices. This creates difficulties for developers who have to create something that works on both web and mobile platforms, causing a slowdown in innovation. Western companies struggle to adopt a mobile-first design and thinking approach, which limits their ability to dominate the mobile market. Mobile ads are more intrusive and less effective, leading to the need for alternative business models such as paid memberships or live video. The US still has to grapple with the shift towards building for the new smartphone platform due to the lack of a mobile-first mindset.
