One critical type of note taking for knowledge workers is using a working memory extender, such as a text file, to temporarily hold and organize a large amount of information received throughout the workday. This external tool helps to capture and process information that exceeds the capacity of one's own memory, providing a means to record and recall important details, notes, and tasks.
