Movies often inaccurately depict volcanic eruptions by exaggerating the explosiveness and ash emissions, while overlooking the real danger of pyroclastic flows which can reach speeds up to 400 miles per hour. The depiction of people fleeing in cars or on foot from ash flows in movies does not align with the actual high speed and peril associated with them.
