NOTE

Formation Drift in Ancient Greek Armies

In ancient Greek armies, when soldiers lined up in formation with spears and shields, they tended to drift to the right due to seeking protection behind the shield of the person next to them. This drifting to the right caused alignment issues with the enemy's line. To counter this, Greek armies placed their best troops on the right side to prevent drift, expecting victory from the right wing and defeat from the left wing.
