Developing Semiconductor Industry in Different Countries
Developing a semiconductor industry is a challenging task, and not every country can achieve it easily. While it seems Mexico has the potential to succeed, it is still uncertain. On the other hand, Canada, historically not deeply involved in the semiconductor supply chain, may not be a suitable candidate for such development. The strategic importance of involving countries like Mexico in the semiconductor supply chain is highlighted, as seen in the historical example of strategically placing parts of the industry in certain countries during the Cold War. The focus of such development initiatives is likely to be on developing economies for economic and technological growth to strengthen national security against external influences.
