Avail’s Approach to DA with Prabal Banerjee

Zero Knowledge

NOTE

Why build Avail when Celestia already existed? For better ZK constructions.

Avail was inspired by Celestia's work, but made different design decisions due to a focus on ZK roll-up constructs and validity proof-driven base layer. Celestia's construction was fraud-proof secured and efficient, but required waiting for a fraud-proof, which didn't align with Avail's goals. Avail chose a KZG polynomial commitment style construction to avoid fraud proofs and be more validity proof-driven, making it distinct from Celestia's hash-based construction.
